Thank you for your welcome comments, Jane. I still hope to see more swallowtails while the lilacs are in bloom.

Thank you Clifford. I'm so glad I got some photos of this one, haven't seen any more swallowtails since the recent hailstorm.

Agree all the way with Debra. Like the tight framing. Nice that you got a butterfly in perfect shape because I often see them with damaged wings.

Thank you so much Yves. This was the only one that wasn't looking worse for wear so I stuck with him. We got marble sized hail the next day and I haven't seen any more since then. Hoping more will come while the lilacs are in bloom.

Very pretty closeup of the swallowtail enjoying the lilac nectar Heather. Love the vivid colours, perfect focus and storyline. Nicely captured.

Thank you so much Debra. The blossoms weren't as thick in this spot but the lighting was right. There were several others fluttering around but they were looking a little worse for wear, I felt lucky to find this little guy.

Description
A yellow tiger swallowtail collects nectar from lilac blossoms. The adult stage of these butterflies is short, lasting from six to fourteen days. During that time they have to find a mate and the females lay their eggs before time runs out.
